Why am I Receiving Medicare Open Enrollment Flyers in the Mail?

You may be receiving a lot of Medicare marketing flyers in the mail during the Medicare Open Enrollment period, also known as the Annual Election Period (AEP), which runs from October 15th through December 7th.

During this time any Medicare beneficiary enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, Part D drug plan, or Original Medicare can change their Medicare coverage for the upcoming year. As a result, many seniors receive targeted marketing during open enrollment, as insurance agencies and brokerages compete for new customers.

Be careful to distinguish Medicare marketing mailings from official government mail or mail from your current insurance company. Medicare marketing mailings are typically sent from private companies not affiliated with the government.
