What are senior living communities or continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs)?

Senior living communities, also known as continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), are residential communities that provide a range of housing and care options for older adults. These communities typically offer independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care all in one location. The goal of a CCRC is to allow residents to age in place and provide the necessary care and support as their needs change over time. CCRCs are generally designed for older adults who are able to live independently, but may need assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and medication management.
